Lottery is always a great way to win if your lucky but the question is it merely a money wasting exercise? Anybody share your thoughts with me on this
The dog house
I believe it is a waste of money. I know someone who spends $30 a week and others even more. Calculate that over a year and that could go towards a holiday or something you might need in the house. I prefer to work for what I have and manage my own expenses. Sometimes money can bring more issues than it is worth.

People in wealthy countries are entitled to healthcare and a basic education by law. Is it fair that this free education stops once we have completed High School, or should those who want it get a free passage? Should the poor be able to attend college or university without having to gain a scholarship or bursary first? Should you be able to get that expensive operation at no cost whatsoever? Is education and health being ignored or is it ok because the government is spending...

I think that less funding should be given to private schools and hospitals should have adequate equipment and hospital beds especially when COVID-19 is still an issue. And having a degree can't guarantee you a job. I wish that the government would offer free courses for people who are struggling to get jobs.

What is it that helps a house feel like home? Is it the people you live with? is it the energy that is given off? Or is it the places you live around? What makes home, home to you?
BLM
I have syngenesophobia. I function (better) - alone and on the go (which is why I like traveling). In addition, have never called anywhere - home - just a place of residence - can not answer your QUESTION.

If you read the news, you would have heard of the saga surrounding preferential treatments for the top 3 tennis players where they can enjoy freedom in Adelaide while the other lower ranked players have to suffer strict quarantine conditions in Melbourne. The fact is, they are the top players and they have greater bargaining powers and SA government accepts them to go there as long as they play the exhibition matches. I think it s fair. They attract audiences therefore they...
Sheree T Princess
The top three tennis players should have been treated the same as the rest. I agree the top players do have greater bargaining powers but the government shouldn't have allowed it to happen.

Share what phobias do you have? Here is the list of mine: - Catoptrophobia / Eisoptrophobia - Fear of mirrors (Partially; only sometimes; I feel anxious to look at the mirrors in the dark to see someone there except me) - Cleithrophobia or Cleisiophobia- Fear of being locked in an enclosed place. (For me that's being in very narrow and small places that thinking about it makes me feel lack of air and I start panicking) - Pediophobia- Fear of dolls. - Scopophobia or...

If we enroll our children to day care so we can go back to our workplace, can we justify our children doing same when they have to tend to their lives and put us in ages care ?
Gypsy
Neither my children nor my grandchildren went into care. When needed, my children were looked after by my parents. When needed, my grandchildren are looked after by me. Just recently my grandchildren told me that when I can't look after myself I will be going to live with them. I thanked them and said we will discuss that when the time comes.

To better ourselves we have to change the way we do things. We set goals and take actions in order to achieve it.
Elizabeth J 447888
I joined the Heart Foundation walking group in my local area in late December so i am ready for my first early morning weekly walk on 7 December. Yep, not go overboard but definitely take the steps I should have taken years ago to slow down the decline that comes with old age.

Do you think there is any justice in the law and do you think the wealthy have an unfair advantage in matters of law?
Bugalugs
Of course money buys Justice. Money can buy anything, anybody & power & that includes the Police, Magistrates, Juidges, Politicians. How often have we heard an accused person being treated with kid gloves because if the "reputation" - that simply menas they have money to buy their freedom.. If you are poor you haven't a hope in hell of getting Justice. Just look at how some of the Wealthiest Organisations in the World, such as the Roman Catholic, Anglican, Lutheran, Islamic, Jewish religious businesses got away with so much Child Sex Abuse until the outcry from the Public became too loud to ignore. They were all responsible for covering-up and protecting 1000s of paedophiles and they were also responsible for "Murder from a distance" - some call it Suicide, the 10s of thousands of lives they destroyed and they asll got away with it because those orgnaisations had the money to buy protection starting with the Police and then all the way up to the highest courts in the country.

Trying to maintain a certain standard of beauty is tough, especially after thirty. There is so much societal pressure on women without having to look at photoshopped images of bodies that are unattainable. And they wonder why so many women have eating disorders. The mind boggles!

In all honesty, I probably outlay around six hundred bucks a month but it is most definitely worth it. And it will end up getting spent on something else anyway.
The dog house
I have not had an alcohol drink in over a year. As I have coeliac disease I am reluctant to have any thing. I do feel like some now and again but walking the dog helps to relax me so I do not need alcohol. $600 is a lot of money on alcohol. You could save that money and when lock down eases you could go on holiday. I also feel that the preservative in alcohol is not good for our body.

Self-care is really important during these challenging times. So many people (particularly on social media) are in a constant state of hysteria. But you don't have to get caught up in the fear and negativity. You can choose to be positive and hopeful. I am spending this time looking after my body and mind. I feel great.
lippy loo
I do not dwell on it. I go about my house and do opinion polls, watch a bit of TV, take my dog for a walk, housework, etc. What's different. Never been all that social so I don't miss that. All these people who are treating this virus as nothing though make me angry. It's not a conspiracy, it's nothing to do with 5G, it's not made up, I am from another culture so don't understand, and worse the ones who think they can do what they want. I get angry at the ones who think they are beyond the rules and actually spread the virus to innocent people who have been doing the right thing. We have it here in Queensland again and it looks like it has spread from a few people who thought they could do as they please lying and crossing the border after leaving Victoria. Personally, I feel now as there is plenty of information out there and if people flaunt the rules and people get sick or worse die they should be made accountable with heavy fines, jail and charges of murder in the case of a death linked back to t

Have you ever served on a jury before? I have not, but I know people who have. Some of them even got paid to serve because the trial went longer than expected. Would you like to be on a jury?
gordy
Yes I have, twice. I took it very seriously because you are making a decision on someone else's life/situation. Unfortunately some people were more interested in getting home than making the right choices. I take pride in saying I stuck to my beliefs and acquitted a young man accused of wrongdoing. The judge was pleased with the verdict. I was very proud of the decision and outcome. Not everyone is cut out for this service but I would do it again in a heartbeat.

In French railway stations they have little pedal devices...you sit down pedal away for a little while and recharge your phone/laptop it's free...and popular....why don't we harness ALL of our keep fit equipment...treadmills exercise bikes Gym equipment...you name it...and run all of that wasted energy into the grid where it is needed?...every little helps...

What is your opinion on which martial arts class is best for a 13-year-old? My son wants to sign up for one, but there's so many to choose from. Which is worth to sign up to?
Andrew C 287196
There was a discussion on the radio the other day about kids "wanting" to do various activities, the parents paying for it, and then the kid quickly pulling out again ... sports, dancing, scouts / girl guides, horse riding, etc.
Before paying any full term / year fees (often non-refundable because you're taking up a spot and the classes cannot start again to catch-up a later fill-in), you should find somewhere that either offers pay-per-lesson prices or even gives a free trial. That way you can find out if the kids *really* wants to do it or not before paying out huge piles of money.

Scientists have been studying what goes on psychologically and physically in fathers before and after having children for years. What do you think? What does becoming a father do to men? Do men who become dads change?
BLM
I don't have children. Don't know if men go thru psychologically and physically changes when they become a parent! However, the articles I have read (written by scientists) state that "Gay Parents May Be the Best Parents". Gay parents tend to be more motivated, more committed than heterosexual parents on the average, because gay parents chose to be (come) PARENTS.

Growing your own food can be cheaper and healthier. With the rising cost of produce, many of my family and friends started growing more produce. I myself grow a few things which I find taste better as there is no need for insecticides/chemicals. Have you tried growing your own produce?
LindaB
We moved to a rural property - a year ago tomorrow, actually - and since then I have grown potatoes, kumara (sweet potatoes for those outside NZ), NZ yams, carrots, cauli, broccoli, capsicums, corn, onions (red and brown), spring onions, pumpkins, beans, snowpeas (mange tout), leeks, cabbages (red and savoy), spinach, silverbeet, swede, daikon radish, beetroot, garlic, rhubarb, courgettes (zucchini), several varieties of tomatoes and herbs and attempted eggplant (aubergine) but was unsuccessful with those as I planted them too late in the season. We have also harvested feijoas, lemons, limes, mandarins and peaches from trees that were already established on the property. We also have chickens for eggs. I have made several batches of pasta sauce, tomato relish, peach jam, onion marmalade and feijoa chutney. I also make my own Irish soda bread, naan bread and focaccia. We are loving the flavours of fruit and veges fresh from the garden and are looking to add more gardens so we can grow more produce.

When did publishers think that magazines should have articles printed on coloured backgrounds? These last few years it's been rife. Perhaps they're in cohorts with opticians because its practically impossible to read and may be causing eye problems - dark brown background printed with black writing or pink pages printed with yellow writing. It may look pretty and 'now', but if you can't read it, what's the point of publishing it. Do others have this problem?
Larry S 382961
I find the same thing on some surveys where they have faint words on white background. Black and white is best. Even some pages in the paper are the same.

As a person who doesn't own my own vehicle, this is something I struggle with as I'm job hunting. I notice a lot of companies say: "must have full G license with own vehicle." I see that I'm qualified for the job and can take public transport, but am unable to apply to the job since I don't have a vehicle. Even though I have my G2, I can't afford a vehicle right now. Women who change their surname when they get married are subservient to men. I mean your maiden name is part of your identity. And to just throw it away willy-nilly, I think is disgraceful!

I married and didn't change my last name. I keep my father last name and i am happy. My husband understood why i keep my last name is my father. In the end a last name is just a name. If you want to change or not its up to boths.

The scariest dream I ever had was when I was staying alone at my Nan's house. Nana was being cared for by mum and dad at our house at the time, so it was just me on my own. From home, I had to catch 2 buses each way, whereas from Nan's I could walk to my school. I was staying there for a few weeks whilst I had exams on, so I could study in peace and not worry about being late to exams. I dreamt in extremely vivid detail that someone had broken into the...

If you could go back to when you were just starting out, what would you do differently, knowing now what you didn't know then. Would you marry the same person, buy your house somewhere different, have kids, go for more holidays or train in a different kind of work?

Its a tricky one...you don't just know more now...you are probably quite a different person too...I don't know how I would get on with myself when I was 23....radically different to now....your life experiences have contributed a lot to who you are at the moment...if you tinker in the past you will be different in the present...its all connected and hopefully a learning experience

We all know how tornados form, but why exactly? In my opinion ever since climate change happened a lot of stuff is now happening, but tornados has gone down a lot what I mean by that is not many tornados are being seen well in most area's they're not being seen as much why?

It's like everything else in nature, it changes. Some years we have lots of snow or frosty mornings. Some years we have lots of rain. Years of droughts and years of floods. Look back at history and you'll see Egypt had droughts then floods. It's just a natural cycle. However, when it comes to damage that is purely due to population. We have always had hail storms. I have photo's of me as a child holding huge hail stones, but back then there wasn't much damage. About 6 years ago a hail storm went through and our house fared pretty well but a new suburb that had just popped up and had 4 houses per quarter acre instead of 1 copped it badly. All you could see was blue tarps over roofs, and they were there for months with not enough tradesman and insurance companies trying to assess the damage. The storm was no worse than usual but there were far more homes than previously.

I have a very large backyard pool with all the required fencing and surrounds. The pool inspector visited our house, and it did not pass inspection because of a spindly, scraggy shrub outside the fence the first time that inspection cost $350, the final inspection we passed another $200 paid. We also replaced one fence that was deemed pool safe a few years ago, but is now longer deemed safe. We will have to pay to have the pool inspected all over again in 3 years time...

Embarrasing..i was rushing to get a workvisit kit and left the Hospital car with the brake off- came back and it had rolled into a handrail. ThankGod it didn't hit anyone. Also left handbrake off when rushing our newborn pups into vets for checkup. Dented car and didn't want to tell hubby and managed to sneak it to panelbeaters and get it back next day fixed without him knowing. Er there's been a few other handbrake incidents too. I try to avoid parking on hills or slopes these days.

The speed limits in Australia are far too draconian, if you stick to the mandatory speed limits when overtaking you would stand a good chance of being killed or involved in a head-on collision. Australians are not taught how to overtake and the law as it stands does not permit safe overtaking, if you overtake a lorry or a car that speeds up, and you have to exceed the speed limit you can and will be done for speeding, it appears the Police have no discretion or prefer to not use...

When we first moved to our present home, we discovered a weird-looking plant called homalocladium platycladium. It is also known as a tapeworm plant or centipede plant, which describes it well. It has flat segmented branches instead of the usual rounded ones. Do you have any unusual plants?

While music changed radically in the 1960's, the need to have funny lyrics and songs survived and thrived...aside from funny bands like the Bonzos and the Scaffold...bands from the Beatles to Madness to Ian Dury...all managed to write funny songs...why does everyone take themselves so seriously nowadays?...what ever happened to fun?
lippy loo
All these rap songs are so hard to understand or full of anger or foul language. Some may like it but who remembers any of these so called songs. Many of the 60's music is still played everywhere these days. Some are classics. There are a few songs these days which are good but it seems a lot are sung with nasally whiney voices and again hard to understand. If it is not sung in this fashion then we have to put up with women dressed skimpily and gyrating across the screens. I do not think there is much talent being shown

I've never won anything big but I was grateful for small wins which came along when I could really use it. I know one person who won a large amount, she thought her own crap didn't smell. I'm the luckiest woman anyway, three grown kids and two beautiful grandkids. Survived breast cancer.

Does anyone else feel as though time is speeding up? Or is it just my mother and I, who feel this way? It just seems like, one minute it's Monday, and, what seems like only 5 minutes later, it's Friday. (Well, maybe a little longer, but you get the drift). Love to hear your thoughts, on this one.

it is our perception of time that changes. you feel time is "flying by" as you get older. go back to your early years, ie about 6 to 10 years of age. your birthday, christmas, school holidays, easter, they all seemed to take forever to get there. it is all your age perception. ask a person in a convalescent home who lay in bed all day, bet their time goes very slowly

If you saw a fellow worker doing something wrong and breaking the rules, would you tell on that person? Not something like taking a pencil, but gross negligence of the rules we ALL have to follow.

I worked in a Nursing Home, where I witnessed an AIN pushing over a resident, calling him a stupid old man. I went straight to the Deputy to report it. She told me that I should be nice to this girl, because she was having a hard time at home. I was absolutely shocked that this could not only happen, but there were zero repercussions for someone who was supposed to be giving care to the frail, elderly residents.

During cold weather my knees ache. Rarely both and walking is painful. I usually put on the stretch supports and this helps. Yet this cold weather my knees are fine. I have had one dry eye for a year now. I have tried many drops. Just recently I tried another more intensive drops recommended by the Pharmacist. I thought this is great my first night went very well. Next night I awoke with the same problem. Not as bad but who knows tonight. It is horrible when the whole eyelid sticks to the whole eye ball. Scary especially when it impairs your vision. Getting old is not pleasant.

I don't think that people are too different between all the various states in Australia...and I think that this applies in the USA as well. I don't understand why Queenslanders cannot buy alcohol in a supermarket ... or why Victorians can buy certain drugs in theirs ... is driving at 110 only the best speed in certain states..and in others it is set at 100?.....there is really very little difference between us...it IS just one country...why can't we just have one...
Hohum
Haha, it's simple really, It depends how much revenue the various states need. For example, if not enough people break the speed limit at 110 then reduce it to 100 etc.

We both worked til I decided to chuck in my job because I was sick of daycare spending more time with the kids than us. I was also earning more as a labourer than my partner in the foundry. I never wanted a night out clubbing and he stopped going to his Friday nights out with the boys after work. It wasn't about us anymore but our boys so our social lives were irrelevant. A lot of my neighbors, here in the States, have "Ring" doorbells installed. Or, another type of technology to replace their "doorbells". Another thing, many have so many gadgets, from speakers to their light fixtures being operated through the internet. It s like a spy organization cinematic plot, from earpieces to hidden cameras on one's bow tie. It's incredible, yet very impersonal. What are your thoughts on these Technological Devices?

It can be good for your security but it can also be highly invasive. Care needs to be taken with your liberty. Do you think that the title mum or dad is something that needs to be earned? Just because you have a kid that is biologically yours doesn't mean you deserve to be called a mum or a dad?! I believe that those titles need to be earned. And you are only a mum or a dad if you step up and are actually involved in your childs life all the time. Not just when it is convenient to you or when you can be bothered to be a parent!

does that same rational go for kids. If you have 2 kids and one is a doctor and the other is a dole bludger on drugs. Does that child no longer deserve to be called your child?

Do you use Apple Pay, Samsung Pay or, even Google Pay? What about PayPal or other online banks? Do you feel they are safe? Will Cash be a thing of the past, like bartering? Rarely used and rarely accepted? What are your thoughts on this change that seems to be inevitable?
Maria B 89860
I can remember the feeling of satisfaction when we used to get paid in cash, kept a little for expenses, train or bus fares lunch money and paid board and the rest got put in the bank and it stayed in the bank. None of this direct deposit and losing track of how much gets withdrawn bit by bit for all and sundry to track where you spent what.
I only use PayPal to receive survey payments and am quick to transfer it to a real bricks and mortar bank account. Don't like the way the banking system is heading with all the online no face to face person contact ... not knowing who of what purpose your money is being used as it accumulates a pitance in interest.

Should all children care be free for working parents. A lots of peoples pay a lots of money to put a child in day care. Some country give free or less money. Austria almost all day care needed are free. In some others country children have better place for child to go children care. So what do you think and why.
Lones
Stay home with your children, live within your means. If we didn’t try to keep up with joneses, appreciated the way our parents bought us up and appreciated that time that you miss from putting your children in care. Before you know it they are gone and you’re an empty nester. Why have children if you’re not going to nurture, and spend those precious years with them

Why are so many people rude to supermarket staff. We are human too we have good days and bad days. We have things going on outside of work that we worry / stress about. It's not our fault something isn't in stock or has run out. We have zero control over what the company we work for does!
Fortuna
It's what I call the 'kicking the dog' principle. If they are having a bad day, they'll take it out on whoever is nearby. I didn't work retail, but I worked a job as a cleaner during day hours. I encountered a lot of rude, nasty people. Just consider the source.

Whatever happened to cars being sold either new or used with a spare tire in the boot? What is a driver supposed to do if they get a flat tire when on a long trip? Are we all supposed to pay and have someone waste their time to fix the tire. If this is what is expected of drivers today, then why have a wheel brace and a jack in the boot for the sole purpose of changing a tire!
Pato Lo Duck
Just a thought, how many of you regularly check the air pressure in your spare tyre. A flat spare is the same as no spare..!!

I notice when people disagree, emotions are at an extreme. Which is another reason why I try to disagree with civility. Why do you believe it is so difficult for people to disagree without resorting to name-calling or simply throwing out insults?
APB
A lack of intelligence and comprehension, add a poor vocabulary, as a good starting point ...then add a total lack of empathy, blind conviction and extreme arrogance...racial hatred is just the icing on the cake really...isn't it?...none of it is necessary and it makes me sad.

Have you seen how big strawberries are now? They look like they're on steroids. Fruit is seasonal, it's not meant to be eaten all the year around. All these preservatives and crap they throw into our foods is what is causing our food intolerance and gut issues
Neo
Food is tastiest when in season (that is why there are seasons). Preserving was invented so we could have fruit and vegetables out of season/stock up for winter/not waste a good growing season.
I believe lots of gut issues and intolerances go further back than just today's preservatives. Best health information is, and always has been "eat everything in moderation". Unfortunately, when women are pregnant, they are told by "experts" not to eat this or that while they are pregnant and this is the first stop to helping the eliminated food become recognised as an allergen to the immune system of the forming foetus. These people then "breast feed" for the best of their child but still eliminate these foods for health reasons so, by the time the food is introduced to the child, the child's natural immune response is "this should not be in my body and needs to be attacked" (allergic reaction)

Since yesterday, there is a new and improved Survey Center on Rewardia This upgraded version has a few features, introducing: - Ranking system from 1 to 5 stars - Tool "Sort" were you can organize surveys by Type, Rank, Points and Time - Surveys History - Members can claim missing points directly from the Center, using section "Not Completed" at My Surveys History What do you think about this new Survey Center?
JoeB
It’s OK but what they really need to work on is removing surveys that have been completed or disqualified

The only reason governments won't legalise cannabis is because big pharma will take a huge hit. It's all about money. Alcohol kills more people than weed ever will, that is a certainty.
roger b 167654
Tobacco and Alcohol do more damage but collect a lot of taxes - at least you'll get the tax going to the govt. instead of drug dealers. It is a complicated issue and deserves more than just a simple yes or no.

In July 2020, a 56-year-old woman posed for Sports Illustrated and I think that is an amazing step forward. Beauty in men and women doesn't expire at a certain age. Sexy doesn't discriminate. Do you agree?

Not bothered. Models don't influence my decision to buy something because I know I look nothing like them and their products will still make me look nothing like them! Next.......

I love my work. So I can understand people wanting to continue their passions after winning millions. But people who continue on in dead-end jobs (that they hate) a week after winning the jackpot should have their winnings taken off them.

Rubbish! You need a bit of time to get your wits together and the best way to do that is to stay a normal as you can. Give yourself space to realise the enormity of it

I work. I function. I go to the gym. I eat healthy. But I consume a bottle of red wine a night. Is this normal or could I be a functioning alcoholic?

If you HAVE to drink that much every night you most definitely have a problem and need to get help or be strong enough to not buy it in the first place.

The cost of living has really impacted hard on so many families as we head into Christmas In my small family we are only spending money on gifts for children and have done so for a couple of years. Do you still buy gifts for adults or only children?
BLM
I don't have a child or children. I don't give gifts to a child or children on Christmas Day (which is a pagan holiday). I was raised an agnostic and became an atheist. I didn't give or receive Christmas Day gifts as a child, and I don't give or receive Christmas Day gifts as an adult. La vie est une garce et ensuite tu meurs - La vie est courte - Pourquoi perde du temps avec des croyances religieuses stupides!

Vacations can be a chance to take a break from, not just work, but typical food routines, too. That can lead to weight gain, but it's probably water weight, not fat, a dietitian said. Weight gained after a vacation is nothing to stress about and is completely normal. What would you say? Is it normal to gain 2kg on holiday?
Andrew C 287196
You shouldn't buy all that duty free booze and chocolates, then your luggage wouldn't be 2kg heavier coming home. \ud83d\ude09

If you take a look back in history, carrying a few extra pounds was a sign of wealth because rich people were the only ones that could afford fattening food. Fast forward to 2020 and junk food is cheaper than healthy food and poor people are fatter than rich people. One would assume if we were to raise the price of junk food exponentially. Our health would improve. Thoughts?
James
no, i limit my intake a lot now, sick of everything going up. Also sick of do gooders raising prices of fuel, power, water, cigarettes, alcohol because its better for me or the planet.
But if it make you feel better about your intake, roll your next burger up in a tight ball, and stick it up your bum!

Do you buy your meat from a supermarket or a dedicated butchery? I recently heard that lots of in-house butchers were being laid off from supermarkets. It made me fell a tad guilty for buying my meat from supermarkets for about the past 30 years. So I decided I would find a local butcher and do my shopping from there in the future. To my great surprise the entry door was plastered with ads for jobs, full time, part-time or casual. Perhaps my feeling of guilt was not...
Tammie S 1220201
Supermarkets have 'meat cutters' not butchers. Butchers start with thr whole animal. There aren't alot of true butchers around anymore

How much do you think the content of your dreams is actually significant? I have heard that if someone appears in your dreams, that they are thinking of you. For entertainment, relaxing with your loved ones, keeping up with global news or just helps with boredom/loneliness especially for those living by themselves.

Falling prey to a con artist can be a humiliating and often expensive exercise. Many cons end in costly court cases, even imprisonment, and that's just for the victims. The perpetrators often appear to be charismatic and charming, but they re far more likely to be narcissistic risk-takers who revel in power and control. Have you ever met anyone of such charismatic and complex character?

My ex-wife is charismatic and charming (still CUTE and still has a BODY (not a good foundation for a marriage) - which is still amazing since my ex-wife is eleven years older than me - still a SCAM ARTIST (Does a tiger lose its' stripes as it gets older?) - I guess we all play the FOOL (I know I did) at some point in our Lifes (and your money is going to part from you under suspicious circumstances while you are playing the FOOL). Trainers became fashionable in the late 1970s you had the cool looking shoe mounted on a bed of what looked a lot like silicone...and then a hard wearing sheet of sole with grip marks on the bottom...you bounced around, you walked on air, I could work 16-hour shifts in a kitchen on concrete floors and my feet were fine...these would always last at least a year...and a lot more........now they look "cooler"...more colours, more styles....most give you "firm" support or...

That's called MARKETING. I have some Sketchers I have been wearing for years, I pop them in the wash. All these trendy shoes are for those woke people who want to make a statement..hey look at me I'm exercising and boo hoo to you old fat idiots. All you do is see how the shoes feel on your feet. I always look for specials. There only thing after having three kids it is not worth buying cheapo Kmart school shoes for your kids. They didn't last a term and the soles just fell off. I go to clearance shops that have premium leather school shoes at a much lower price.

Hey I m a bit of an introvert and really didn t mind lockdown! Of course no one wants COVID but should we have an annual compulsory lockdown to reset ourselves for up to a week every year? I d like to know how many people would like there to be a statutory lockdown period of a week each year to reset ourselves and spend time with our families.

If you want to lock yourself down for 3 days, then go ahead, knock yourself out! BUT don't force it upon those that don't want to participate. What are your thoughts about "value" we can find anywhere these days? You would think that paying more equals getting better, safer and healthier products of higher quality, but is it always the case?
Bugalugs
No of course a Higher Price does not mean better value. Take a trip into one of those very up-market Department Stores and those dinky little Boutiques offering, supposedly Designer Gear, Exclusive Brands by Haute Couture Houses of Fashion. Grossly over Priced garments but ALL Made in China, India, Bangladesh and other slave-to super-low Income countries. We went in to one of those Department Stores, up the escalator and into the Women's Fashion Floor. There at the top of the escalator was a display of a well-know designer. Faded Jeans with selectively placed "Tears", Price? A not-so-cool $695.00! The top? It looked liked a woman's vest-cum-Tee shirt with a tiny single row of "lace" around the neckline. The price? An equally not-so-cool $435.00!
My female companion unbuttoned the top couple of buttons on her blouse to reveal an identical top with exactly the same single row of "lace". Price at the Local Market? $15.00. Our local Op Shop sells faded Levi Jeans with naturally worn, strategically sited holes - just like the Designer jeans at $695 for just $10! - I know this because they were my jeans! The only reason I was not still wearing them was because I don't think it is appropriate for Mature Age Men and Women to dress as if they were in their late teens! Brand, Price and Designer Labels mean Nothing.

In Australia...1 kg of sugar always cost $1....for a really long time....then a few years ago...it went up to $1.09...and finally $1.10...OK...three weeks ago all new supplies of sugar are now $1.60...no natural disasters...no explanation and absolutely no apology from anyone...I've told people and they say it doesn't matter and why am I complaining...am I the only person to have noticed this?...and does everyone else think that this is quite normal?....if they did that...

Depends on what the drug is and why they're taking it for. If it's for enhancing like steroids, then I think they should be banned but if it's for medical purpose, then it's ok.

What is it with parents these days? Odd baby names, whether names spelt wrong or using accepted surnames as first names. Some babies are even stuck with names of fruit or items in nature. Through the past years, children who have grown up with unusual first names have always developed psychological problems and have no direction in life. With all the acceptable baby names around, why make up new ones? What do others think?

I so enjoyed Emma Kate's recent discussion on favourite songs for her playlist and then started thinking about the first cassette tape i ever bought- which was in the 80s. It was Human League. I was a student at a Technical Institute and was living away from home for the first time and in a Halls of residence. I used to assume when I saw a woman in gym wear/activewear, that she was off to the gym. Only to discover, it was a fashion trend. How did this happen? Is society on a downward slide? I prefer to dress elegantly but each to their own I guess.
APB
How did it happen?.....it was a gradual process, starting in the 1970's when gay men started wearing trainers when they had no intention to do any training...that quickly spread to the whole population...then we had "girl power" which meant the only way to be equal to men was to wear your bra on the outside and wander around half naked...this has now filtered down to the general population...it can be a blessing or a curse depending on how much fat is crammed into very small quantities of a semi see through stretch material....each to their own....

My p.o.v, from the 12 year old me I'd say yes, it is important to go school and get good grades to get a good job for your future, but now? I wouldn't really know.. I've met people who say they finished school, had good grades and graduated all just to end up in McDonald's, apparently "grades" does not matter at all when it comes to a job? Thoughts?
ZoeC
School is not just about grades. School is about learning how to develop social skills, to negotiate, to converse, to organise your time, to learn about what is appropriate in different contexts ... the list goes on. These are all vital skills for the workforce. They may not help you get a job initially, but they will certainly help you keep it, and they improve your chances of progressing in work that you really enjoy.

Now a days we rely on technology too much. But is it good to have so many? Do you think we relay on them too much that if we take them all away we will be lost and wont be able to function?

I think we rely on it way too much, back in 1859 there was major disruotion due to a sloar flare.it wiped out the worlwide telegraph system,When, its not if but when, imagine what it would be like, every electrical circuit fried,no communications,no power,no pumpimg stations, planes falling from the sky,you have already seen how people reacted to the china virus emptying shelves, imagine how it will be when this happens, every man for himself, they estimate it would take 10 years and trillions of dollars to just get US back to normal,if anyone is interested heres a link to the carrington event

The other day a woman told me that she feels insulted when a man opens a door for her. My jaw literally hit the floor. She believes men open doors because they think women are incapable. Can you believe it? Opening the door for someone is about having impeccable manners. I open the door for both men and women. The world has gone mad. But thank goodness chivalry isn't dead.
Hachi
It doesn't fall into the "sexist" category at all! A man opening a door for a woman is delightful (and kinda sexy!).
Aug 10, 20

I may be wrong about this. But I think men believe if they pay for dinner, they are entitled to sex. So I usually offer to pay for both meals or go Dutch, to hold on to my power. But I know a lot of women EXPECT men to pay, which is also wrong. What are your thoughts on this? Who should pick up the bill?

i think if you date a man that expects sex after paying your dating the wrong type of man, before i married and dated women,if i asked them out i paid, not once did i expect anything in return.

Now with all the devices we have, long distance friendships are super easy to achieve and maintain, but not too much just a few years ago. You know, people used to write letters in a paper with a pen or a pencil, and send those to the nearest postal office, those were called letters. Do you ever had a long distant friendship when the phones, internet and pc didn't exist? It last long? How old were you? Do you still writing letter?

I had a Japanese pen pal about 50 years ago but after an earthquake never heard from her again. I currently write to a friend in America who hasn't got a computer but haven't heard from him for some time so will be writing to him very soon. Hope he is still around. There has occasionally been a gap in our letter-writing so I'm not too worried about it.

I was married twice, and my second ex is still a very dear friend of mine. I don t love him as a partner obviously, this was the reason we split up, but I still appreciate him a lot as a friend. Note we live in 2 different continents and our only contact is FaceTime every 3 weeks. He is very well-read, and I enjoy discussing topics like arts, movies, and politics with him. Our conversations are very enriching on both sides. What about you guys?

Were we friends during our marriage to each other - NO! We are friends - NOW, but we are NOT married to each other - it took decades to get too this point - as we both accepted responsibility for the demise of our marriage! Fortunately - for both of us, when we were married to each other - we did not have a child!
