I am just wondering how people in this situation of when are children too young to be taking medication for ADHD, autism etc. my granddaughter is 7 and her mum wants her on medication. Plus now she's talking about putting her 4-year-old and 2-year-old as well. When is it too soon?

Personally I wouldn't give kids man made chemicals to sort out a natural chemical imbalance they already have thats been diagnosed. I think it would lead to problems later down the track being on drugs from an early age.
40 or 50 years ago you didn't here about adhd or autism until someone unleashed it on the world, now everything a kid does that we used to do as kids is labeled.
Maybe they should look at the food that is consumed by the kids as to the causes of their labeled diagnosis.

I have this issue with doing washing every single day for our now 11 and a half year old. The GP says it's a phase that he will overcome. My girlfriend wants to keep on using these night pant products called dry nights.... I told her that we would be better off taking him to a pediatrician or something alike... Being our first, my question is does make a near 12-year-old wear these products to bed do more harm than good? He also has camp coming up in late August......

It's quite common in boys, My son was the same. Except we didn't have those in that sizing back then so it was bed liners and washing each day . There is a nasal spray that can help to slow things down, but basically in most cases it's simply hormonal,( the hormone responsible for concentrating the urine overnight is less present than it should be) and you will find once the 12yr mark kicks in or soon after ,. It will just stop. It's very frustrating I do remember ,but it's important not to let your child feel like it's an issue, They can't help it, It's not from trauma and it's not going to help restricting drinks before bed either. There are plenty of tips online . Don't bother with the bell and pad system either,, all it does is wake the child up when they wet with an alarm and interrupts their sleep often twice a night, more! .. not worth it . As I say it will just miraculously stop once his hormones kick in . Hope that helps some :)

You can't tell the difference....it is saving the planet...it stops animal cruelty.....and this runs against... you can taste the difference...it is made of vegetables, so why does it cost twice the price of meat...if you are going to stop animal cruelty there are better ways...........surely being a vegetarian means eating no meat, so why do you need a meat substitute? Are you missing your dead animals? What do we think?

I see no point in humans becoming vegetarians. What do we do with the animals that we have on the planet? Cows have to be milked, and there's nothing better than beef in my opinion. People are not herbivores. Why do we think we are so civiilized that we are too good to eat meat? God put them here for us to use, but not to abuse! There are humane ways to slaughter animals. I think it's more important to focus on people slaughtering other people! What the hell is going on there? We need to figure that out ASAP! Get rid of the drugs, cults and mental illness and automatic weapons. The founders of this country did not mean for us to be armed like the armed forces. The US is the worst country for murder, why? A new advert I've just seen...the FIRST bottle to use 100% rHDPE plastic!!! (rHDPE is recycled High Density Polyethlene)...sounds great right?....what these creeps are ACTUALLY doing is making bottles that are 50% rHDPE...and half VIRGIN plastic...but the recycled component is rHDPE....with people like this "helping" it's going to be a long hard battle to recycle our plastic waste just cowboys making a quick buck out of lying...

There are some clothing fashions around that I find really ugly, and I always find myself wondering who on earth would buy them. It's not only the style, but the colours are mostly dull and uninspiring as well. At the end of each season, I have a bit of a laugh because I often see these ugly clothes in the clearance bin. I recently spoke to a friend. She has decided to go into a nursing home as she dislikes living on her own. While her children see to her needs, she rarely sees her grandchildren. People go about their lives while working and going out etc. Could they spare half an hour a week or even a fortnight to visit their grandmother that is lonely? It is sad to see and hear how people act towards someone who once also had a full life.

My Mother said when she met my Grandmother for the first time, she noticed 2 of their plates were chipped. Instead of helping to wash them up she deliberately dropped them, smashing them to pieces. If someone was rude to you in public how would you react? Would you keep the peace, or would you report it, or would you insult them back? I ask this because my brother told me how someone was rude to him at a restaurant he went to last week, and he ignored him. But later regretted that he didn't report it. Both sons' work in hospitality, both deal(t) with rude and/or aggressive customers daily. Customers vent, they calmly respond. Due to the high activity of violent behaviour from druggies and drunks there is now a sign at my youngest Liam's work. 'Our employee Liam is also security. He is a MMA fighter, are you? Please be respectful to our staff, thank you.' No incidents for three months and counting.

That is hardly fair for nurses, doctors, and other hospital staff or ambulance workers or police or those in the military forces and those who work in our prisons and those who feed us in restaurants or cafes. We are making it hard for small businesses to add to the new taxes imposed upon them. The only people who can WFH are clerical workers and government staff and the government staff take so long to do anything anyway that WFH will make the situation worse. It is a division of society that will make it harder to get staff in all those cases I cited before - and I believe we need them even more than the clerical workers.

Is it my imagination or do people talk more than they actually listen? As a security guard I find people over talk and talk over every one. Instead of listening and helping to resolve issues very quickly with little drama. I listen and I propose simple solutions based on the principle of compromise. When you talk you repeat what you know, when you listen you learn what you don't know.

Do you believe that people should have the right to have a doctor assisted suicide? People that live in incredible pain, people that are so depressed that they want to die. Thoughts?

I spent many years working as a Palliative Care nurse and in Aged Care situations as an RN. Assisted suicide is a normal part of end of life care for some and terminal sedation is a practice that has been practised for many years. I remember an incident in a public hospital I worked in, and we were warned not to discuss it, but it was more than a decade ago. An elderly man had very bad frontal lobe or Dewy Body Dementia. He was being cared for at home because he had been previously admitted to other Nursing homes in and around this area, but due to him flinging his fists around and utterly refusing personal care because he no longer understood what these strangers were doing to him, his physical health was suffering and they wouldn't have him back again. He wasn't getting nutrition, hydration and as he was doubly incontinent he was getting bad excoriation on his privates and the pain from this was causing more negative behaviour. He would refuse tablets and spit them out if the nurse DID manage to get them in his mouth and consequently he wasn't even getting the antipsychotics and calmatives he needed so he could recieve adequate care. So we have a human being who is just a mere shell of who he was, and that was an absolute creep as we remembered him from long ago, who's family could no longer cope, were out of resources and had ZERO other options for care. So the decision was made with his specialists, local GP and family to bring him into the hospital for terminal sedation. We were NOT obliged to care for him and we had the option to refuse to give the medication that would take him away from this earthly plane of existence. From my recollection it took about 72 hours for his heart to stop. He hadn't been the man he was for some time and his family had already grieved that loss some time ago. All there was now was relief and thankfulness that neither would suffer any longer. I'd be interested if anybody has a suggestion as to how THEY might have managed this situation if THEY had been this man's family. I suffer pain all the time and sometimes it's so bad that I wish it was all over. Nobody has the right to tell me that my suffering isn't bad enough to warrant me thinking of a permanent way out. I take painkillers but you become used to them after some time and the efficacy reduces. But people should be able to choose to end their lives on their own terms and we show animals that kindness. Why NOT humans who are suffering?

I like to see what I buy, but packaging often hides the contents, either the quality or the quantity. I often get potatoes that are already sprouting I purchased 2 boxes of breakfast cereal today, and I was surprised at the amount of cereal compared to the size of the boxes which showed 435gr. I weighed the contents and one box contained 365gr of cereal and the other 411gr. Feeling cheated.

How many of you have a "Bad Habit" you would like to get rid of. I used to be a smoker & after many attempts, finally succeeded in stopping. How would you go about breaking a habit? I tried it all. Books, hypnosis, cold turkey! I think, for one, you need to be ready. Do you think people are born with "addictive habits?" Why do some of us smoke, drink etc & to others it is irrelevant? I gave no permission for a Car Insurance renewal policy, but to my horror, the very popular Insurance company renewed it anyway using an expired credit card they had on file. They simply changed the expiry date on the credit card. Of course, I cancelled it right away. My question is, should I report this company to the Government watchdog?

We have found a few insurance companies renew policy's without instructions to do so. My concern is that they used an expired credit card and I have no idea how they managed that because not only would the expiry date have changed but another number of 3 digits would have changed also so your bank should have declined it. If it were me my first call would be to my bank to ask why they had approved the transaction, my second call would be to the Ombudsman because it isn't on. All the best.

We know about growing herbs and not wasting food... the single most important piece of equipment you need is a large chest freezer... (even two) THAT is your best friend... you will be surprised at just how much you can freeze... and just how much supermarkets can discount food... they will almost give chicken and pork away... my dog is eating VIP food that costs $8 a kilo, and it costs me $3... my mushrooms usually cost $5 or $6 a kilo rather than $13 you can...

Hi APB, we have a vacuum sealer & frozen food lasts so much longer when sealed this way. We have a great vege garden & we are fisherman, so have lots on hand in the freezer. It is also a good idea to have an infirmary of what is in the freezer. Our frozen food is also dated so we know to use the older food first.

I wish kids would realize their parents were once their age, and there is no manual on doing the right or wrong thing, because when it comes down to it, we are all learning how to deal with and take care of things. It\u2019s strange this discussion coming up. My mum died last Sunday. I\u2019m not after sympathy, but I know people care. It was a blessing for her as she was very poorly and it was a huge relief to see her suffering end. About nine years ago I answered my mum back for the first time in my life. She would not recognise my first grandchild as family because she was fostered and in her words not mine \u201c she isn\u2019t blood\u201d. This hurt very much, this beautiful little girl was my first grandchild and I love all my grandchildren equally. I kept my distance for a while but got abusive phone calls from my brother and nearly had to take out a restraining order. My mum changed her will, and I had no say over her health as she got older and deteriorated. She was put in a nursing home, which was very comfortable but she kept asking me what had happened to all her belongings. I didn\u2019t know. I visited her and we spoke and I love her. My psychologist said I would never get an apology for the hurt she caused me but I forgave her. Sorry for the ramble but thank you for letting me write.

How do you feel when you go shopping at grocery stores or dept stores, and you are asked to round up a few dollars to support a charity in that area. I find that if I am in the same store multiple times a week, it feels uncomfortable saying no over and over again, especially if I have already donated the first time they asked. I hate having to explain that I have already donated.

There was a time in professional sports when the umpire/referee made a decision, it was accepted as final without question. Errors were made, but were acknowledged as part of the game. Today, almost every decision is referred to an authority away from the playing field. This not only interrupts the play of the game but calls into question the integrity of the field official.

Coming from a very large family, it becomes a big question when Christmas rolls around as to who to invite for Christmas dinner. I usually decide on it based on who gets along with whom. Then I don't hear the end of it when I don't invite certain members. I decided not to put on the Christmas dinner for the past two years; it didn't feel like Christmas without family around on Christmas day. Do you experience any of this? What would you do?

My family is large as well. What we do is meet at the local park, lake or nearby beach. Everyone that wants to come brings a main and a dessert to share at a communal table. The children are catered for by water activities and a playground. Adults mingle with whomever they want. At the end (most of it is paper plates\plastic cups) cleaning up takes seconds. The burden of catering is not left to a single person. And our rule is no presents. Having fun, bringing food, participating in activities...that's the present.

Recently our cat was mauled by a savage dog even though it was on a leash outside our house. Its owners had no control. I have never witnessed such torture and was devastated, `The cat was so injured, it has to be out down. We had no success on insisting that the dog should be put down to prevent other incidents. Yes, I agree, dogs with those killer tendencies towards cats often go onto to attack people, have seen this many times when working with council dog pound. Often they can not be rehabilitated and have to be euthanised, sad for all concerned. More restrictions, visits are needed for dogs such as these and this savage dog that mauled your cat on a lead is a public safety issue. More than often it is the owner at the cause of the problem with encouraging aggression and non socialisation of dog at fault. There are alot of people involved in dog fighting now and these people couldn't be trusted to look after there dogs and need these animals taken off them

I am single and have been all my life. I enjoy it. It's given me time for self growth. Most of my friends got married within 2 years of leaving high school and took any low paying job they could to pay the bills. I became a teacher and travelled all over the country I live in. I play several instruments, write songs and have a band that we preform at local events. I own my own house, 2 investment properties, a government and a private super, shares and a good size chunk of cash in the bank. Being single DOESN'T mean being lonely. I have great friends and have had relationships along the way. The freedom I have to do anything I want whenever I like is amazing. I don't need to ask anyone's permission to do anything I feel like doing at the drop of a hat, and money is never a problem. When I look at my friends and how deeply they are in debt to the almighty credit card I thank God I'm single. And as far as never having children...well I'm a teacher that is surrounded by children and I have 6 nephews that think I'm the greatest uncle ever due to the gifts and adventures we have had in the past. And still having adventures today with their children. Life is good.

Following the death of the late Pope Francis and after watching Conclave, I thought to myself what would a woman offer as a Pope? I am not Catholic but do know that they do not ordain women as priests. Maybe in the future this will happen. I got my black belt in TKD, with Palado TaeKwonDo Academy in a small town, it took me 15yrs (as I had two kids during that time so a few breaks), but I kept returning (with my kids who are also Blue belts atm. I paid for it myself. I dealt with the petrol, the time, whilst working, and eventually (as the boys got older); the whinging!! IT WAS ALL WORTH IT AND STILL IS!

I went to Bright,Victoria. A small village town half way up Lake Mountain. The most picturesque little town all year round back then.My ex husband and I were travelling by car ,6 hour drive. I was very pregnant with our first child. 40 degree heat in summer. We had a minor accident with the car in the first 15mins,no apparent damage,so continued. We should have turned back then. The car broke down more times than I can count. Luckily we had insurance that offered roadside assistance. By the time we arrived we had spent 12hours on the road in the heat and had the car towed the last 80kms. All accommodation was already paid for,but left us with very little money and bad sunburn. Still wasn't horrible,it's was truly beautiful. We ate ice-cream,walked around town, waded though the Oven's river( which is melted snow and freezing any time of year). We had some food we brought with us. Funny that everything we planned went wrong,but just being there was refreshing. Young love..we didn't care,had nothing,no money,no car. It didn't matter.

I am finding it increasingly difficult to find who I am on surveys with all the new genders and sexualities and then you have to repeat all of this on the next page because "sex assigned from birth" is one question and "sex you see yourself as". How about just ask if you are male or female or other because if you TRULY believe you are one of these, then why does it matter what sex you were assigned at birth? And, just for simplicity, for sexuality, just have "gay or straight or other" and they can fill in what their "other" is instead of giving all survey takers a laundry list of possibilities to plough through until we find what we identify with? Honestly, it takes longer to read these prequalification lists these days than is reasonable.
Next they will be asking us if we consider ourselves human, alien or a furry and then THIS will have its own laundry list of ridiculous possibilities.
Oh, I forgot about the alien lizard species since just saying "I am alien" may not be good enough for some people. What if I identify as a Klingon or other race from Star Trek? The possibilities for making this question a kilometre long are endless!

So many people these days are choosing either to have private funeral services, a memorial service at a later date, or no service at all. I have opted for no service I have asked my family to when they feel s right all go out for dinner together (something we enjoy doing now) and order desserts (but no coconut lol) my family get it, I don't need any fuss, those who love me are in contact with me now. Like most of you I arrived into the world with very little fuss, and I intend to leave the world the same way. Why put all your friends and relatives through the expense of the funeral, and in many cases the high travelling cost? Funerals are for the living, not the dead. The corny line about "paying your respects" is Undertaker-speak for making indecent money from your estate for them. Watch out for the undertaker whose other half runs a florist shop and their son is in the catering business.

Supermarket paper bags !!\ud83d\ude21 l hate paying 25c for just one of them and then they break by the handles or spilt on the edges ..especially as the staff are usually useless at packing them... Overpack or careless .lt's a business You should be giving us free bags to take our product home in after you've made a nice profit from us ( massive profits compared to other stores who give you a free bag!!); .. and you'll also get free advertising as we walk down the street with your logo on the bags eh?

A call came in and said a bench warrant had been issued for my husband's arrest and gave the name of an officer at the local police dept. I called them on my phone, they said they had an officer by that name, but he was assigned as a school crossing guard. My husband kept them on the phone and drove to the police dept. I don't care for sports other than the Olympics. I don't follow sports of any kind and do not watch them. I certainly would not pay an outrageous price for tickets to see them live. It is absurd what they pay professional athletes; they could do so much good with that kind of money. Many athletes end up broke and don't know how to earn a living any other way.

Perhaps you're really good with numbers and need to be an Accountant or Financial advisor. Or you have a lot of empathy and love helping people, and perhaps should become a Therapist. I suppose I got a bit of a head start on everybody else. Earlier this month I moved interstate back to sunny Victoria( well sometimes it is). I left a d.v relationship with basically my clothes and my youngest son and his things to be with family. So decluttering DONE. Now just focusing on my health mental and physical as well as slowly saving to replace all I left behind. Pretty proud of myself at this point as I thought previously the only way I would get out was in a wooden box. I think college, trades, and university will become a thing of the past - when AI reaches its full potential. I think going into the military for twenty years and getting a livable pension will become the norm - as their will be more wars over dwindling natural resources and ever-increasing population. Also, becoming a police officer will become your second mandatory option for twenty years which will give you another livable pension - crowd control will become an issue as the fight for dwindling natural resources will become more intensified with an ever-increasing population. My husband and I have disagreed, he thinks the lint is actually growing all the time, I am not sure how it could be growing Does anyone else have to fight lint every day all day long in the home where they live. Just using a vacuum every day is not enough. What does others suggest about this??

While I don't have a lint problem at home, I used to work at a university that did have a real problem. The lint bunnies grew so large that they hissed at the students passing by. I also heard that a student was actually attacked by one, but there is no proof.

My Mum & Grandma were very superstitious & some of those superstitions rubbed off on me! I will not walk under ladders as it is unlucky. Grandma would never have peacock feathers in her house - they were unlucky. If I see a black cat, to me that is a lucky omen. If my mum dropped a utensil, then we were going to get visitors! If she spilt salt, she would throw some over her left shoulder so she wouldn't have an argument. I love finding a four leaf clover, that is so lucky....

I always offer Tradies a coffee or tea when they have a day's work. I feel guilty when we sit down for lunch. Should I or shouldn't I offer them lunch with us? Thoughts please.

As a semi-retired tradie and I have always eaten lunch while I work without stopping due to very unreasonable deadlines. So in general, there is no need to offer lunch as most tradies bring their own or send the apprentice to buy some. But as for me, I have always appreciated the offer of a nice hot coffee.

First thing , to become rich is to put some of one's own income away ( save it) also known as the long way.
Second thing , borrowing someone else's money is a quick way of becoming in debt, once you are in debt , in is near impossible to become rich.
Borrowing more money, and investing it, is no guarantee of getting out of the original debt , and becoming rich. It may end up worse off and owing more debt.
Remember this simple philosophy : If one can keep a roof over one's head ( rent/ mortgage), pay one's utilities ( electricity/ gas/ phone/ water etc) ,if one can feed and clothe one's self, then one is rich!
