I called in on a friend and she was on the phone and sat in front of her computer... She acknowledged me, and indicated she was on phone so I put the kettle on for a cuppa and went back to the lounge which is where her computer was... suddenly realised she was about to give someone access to her pc, and I jumped in and got her attention, she told me what was happening and I advised her to call technical support herself if she was having problems cos it sounded like a scam to me. She ended the call immediately, she made the phone call and it was a scam. Thank goodness I dropped in when I did.

Duh! Do not use Uber or Door Dash. Most folks have driving licenses and cars (I do not so I walk places my friends with vehicles cannot take me) and with an intelligent prez and veep in the White House again, fuel prices are coming down fast! Our local Turkey Hill gas prices drop by a penny a day and have ever since Harris opened her big mouth to bad-mouth Vance and Trumpy! The reason for the high Uber prices? The Uber drivers are fixing their own 'guesstimated' rates! Too many of us are just plain too damned lazy! You drive to a gym and exercise for an hour and then drive home again or to work! How re walking to the gym and then back home? I walk about 6 miles a day to and from our local parks and I am 75 years young!

Have read the comments with interest. I was 2 months from turning 16 when I met my husband at the local swimming pool. I was keen on one of the attendants but the one that walked me home was to be my future husband. The following day (Saturday) I ad to do some shopping at the local shopping centre & lo & behold, who do I see but my future husband (Dave). He couldn't remember the house number of the house where I lived, so he was riding his bike, hoping that by riding around, that it would jog his memory of where I lived. I called out to him & that was the start of us becoming a couple. That was the 30th June & on the 12th July, I asked him if we could get engaged as I knew he was going into the English army for 2 years National Service. Luckily, he said "yes" but I didn't an engagement ring until my 16th birthday which was in the August just prior to him doing his duty. We remained engaged until Dave got demobbed 2 years later which gave me time to save for my "bottom drawer" & to save up some money. The outcome of all this, is that last month we celebrated our 64th Wedding Anniversary. I can't say that it has always been easy but those 2 years being engaged gave us time to become friends, we've always tried to compromise & to talk things through. Afterall, we are each individuals with different opinions so you have to take this into consideration. We are both now in our 80's, do things together, as he does the cooking & I do food preparation, such as vegies etc. Still very happy to this day. Hope I haven't bored anyone with the story of my marriage.

What sort of doctor would do that. I was told I had cataracts for years but not bad but eventually he told me it was time to get the eyes operated on. I was informed all the time. I have an eye test every year and am sent a reminder. I am due for one now. I think sometimes one has to change their doctor or medical person just to keep them honest and yourself in the know. My sister was very ill and her doctor for 10 years kept saying it was nothing. She passed due to cancer that has spread through her body and this so called doctors lack of care. I always say get a second or even third opinion and if you still think something is wrong keep going. Many doctors fob women off as being hysterical, menopausal or whatever. Do not just accept their opinion. Investigate, educate yourself as much as possible and do not be afraid to ask the questions and demand answers. Of course, no need to be rude or abusive.

Schools are very unwilling to acknowledge this unless it happens right in front of a teacher. Perpetrators are smart,they pick their moments. That being said if the school won't help you there are a few things I found with my youngest son helped. Listen, so they feel heard and validated,talk about your child's feelings. Try and work out who is who in the zoo,your child's friends,the bully's as well as those that stand by do nothing . Encourage your child to avoid, those that harass them ,so not to be in an area of the school yard,walk away when being verbally harassed,ignoring them as bully's get bored pretty quick and move on if they can't get the reaction they want. If it gets physical they must report it to the teacher. Specifically in my son's case it got to the point where I told him to retaliate and stand up for himself as the teacher had no interest in his problems and would move him on. I told rhe school this, they weren't happy,but it made the bully think twice about tripping him over and pushing him down rhe stairs again. Finally I got a private councillor. After consulting my sons g.p he was put on a mental health plan* to support him and to get 5 sessions free of private councilling with a child specialist of my choice. Best thing I ever did. He had someone else to talk to,was given great advice,talked about coping with stress and bullying. * the session involved together councilling as a family and part individual which was confidential. Things rhe councillor thought I should know was discussed with my son and then we talked about it together. He continued going for 3 years. Now,he is 18,and happy,doesn't care who likes him or not and actually has had many of his ex bully's apologise to him. By the way ,when school found out about the councillor,they contacted them,but was told they couldn't discuss anything with them. The school offered a councillor for him,after 4 years of ignoring my son,we refused.

I recently became a certified master composter in NJ, I learned so much about recycling and the costs these facilities have to pay. If they don't make money to cover their employees and the overhead they will shut down. Now that China won't take our recycling we have a huge problem. We use the items and we have a responsibility to get rid of the left over from the product. I am 1 of 6 people who are involved in collecting soft plastics for the Trex Co (plastic decking materials, etc.) and for every 1,000 pounds we collect we get a very nice bench. We are a small 55+ community and in 1 year we have collected 2 tons of plastic!!!! Win-win, cha-ching!!!!

As a child I was horrified to be told that our dogs were being fed horse flesh. Rabbits were the main protein food of many working class people during the Great Depression and on holidays as child I often hunted with my father for a "bunny" for dinner when we camped on a dairy farmer's property. Depending on circumstance and how desperately hungry I was I might try anything that looked like food from whatever source if that need arose.

I never had kids because I can't stand a screaming child and wasn't prepared to take the risk. It would have been my luck to get one of those babies that cry constantly. To me family is so important and where I live we have four generations living in separate houses but on the same property. We don't live in each others pockets but I just adore having my great grandson around he brings me a lot of joy and I believe he keeps me feeling younger. Interest rates are still very low in comparison to historical rates but house prices make the current rates unaffordable. People are borrowing beyond their means to get the house of their dreams first off instead of buying small and working towards the house they really want. My parents built our childhood home when they first married and added on and made improvements as the family grew and needs changed. Our house was originally a 3-bed, 1 bath, 1 living room with a fireplace and ended up a 5-bed, 2 bath, 2 living rooms with an extended dining room and central heating throughout to accommodate the family of 7 that we ended up as. To a certain extent, people's greed and immigration has pushed up house prices, which also has an effect on the amount of interest they have to pay, regardless of the rates.

After having dark hair since I was a baby I find that I am loving my greys. I really think grey can look quite stylish. I see grey hair everywhere these days. Are people going grey at a younger age or are young people dying their grey. I really feel it is the latter. Dark hair on a older person with a sallow complexion looks comical. There is no "right" or "wrong" way. What you do with your own personal things is completely up to you and your own family. Nobody else's opinion matters nor is relevant. You might want to keep some, sell or donate some, or simply throw some out. There are no jobs available when graduating from old age. They say firms are looking for experience, but I have 90 years of experience & no takers.

I grew up on a dairy farm with both parents and 4 sisters. As far back as I can remember, we had foster children in our home. Often 2 at a time but mostly 1 and once 3. I remember wanting to adopt them all, some more than others because they came as wee babies and stayed up to a couple of years and you get really attached; at least as a kid it felt like 2 years. We did end up adopting 2 boys and we are all very close and loving as siblings should be. I wondered recently if my parents did it for the money but my Dad set me straight real quick; $7/month for each child. That didn't even cover food. It was out of the kindness of their loving Christian hearts that they were doing this. In my adult life I was able to foster 2 teenaged girls. I don't think there's a much better feeling in life than helping young people out of abusive families and into a Christian home that values them for the gifts they are. And teaching them they are lovable and deserve respect and admiration lead them on to work in a dental office and veterinarian office where their kindness and confidence are shared with a gentleness they never learned in their first families. I am so thankful to God for bringing those girls into my life and the ability to give them what they needed to succeed in life and break the abusive cycle. If any of you get the opportunity to foster and/or adopt a child/children, I say pray about it and if you're led in that direction, follow your heart and do it. You will all be rewarded. It amazes me that the younger generation have the call out for helping the earth, etc. yet they use so much stuff. i.e. wipes, disposable nappies, coffee cups and pods, phones and other electronic equipment, yes and fast food packaging and they usually buy bags at the supermarket also. I have young people around the 30 age bracket in my units here and they do not recycle anything. I saw on the news tonight that the young mothers cannot afford nappies which cost somewhere between $20 and $30 a week apparently and take over 100 years to degrade. We had about 2 dozen cloth nappies that we soaked and washed them. No on going costs with those. We used flannels to wash them with and wipe their faces and then we washed those. We can do our bit but big businesses are doing more damage than we can ever offset. They need to be made accountable. Carbon offset is not the way to go either. Carbon negative is how it should be. Buying some trees to offset the carbon is not lowering it as the trees were already there. Sometimes these areas trees/timber have also been sold so a minus. I guess we all need to make everyone take responsibility from the smallest thing to the largest company and governments.

From the time I was a kid and found even a halfpenny on the pavement I would hand it in at the police station for the charity box. I have a disability due to collapsed vertebrae in spine and yet have cleaned tile flooring, scrubbed kitchen floor, scrubbed baseboards, hand washed dishes, cooked meals and laundered bedding, towels and clothing.

There is My Aged Care but while the mandates are still in place I wouldn't leave one of my cats in an aged care facility. My mother had been in a nursing home for some years before Covid but when they introduced the vaccine mandates almost half the staff left and the place soon fell apart. The residents were neglected as there simply weren't enough staff, the food was terrible, visitors were prevented from visiting and the residents were prevented from going out and every time a resident tested positive they were all locked in their rooms. Prisoners were treated better. My mother had an infection which had previously been tested for regularly, it caused her to have a heart attack, then someone fell on her breaking her knee then another infection went undiagnosed or treated and she died. I lodged a formal complaint 6 months ago and am still waiting for a reply. It was cruel, unkind and over the top and our aged deserve much better. So until sanity prevails and things get back to normal I'd steer clear of the aged care system.

Speed limits are needed but so often people simply ignore them in my area and the Police are never present and there has not been a Speed Camera in operation in our busy road for over 3 years. The Police simply do Not Care, the Politicians do Not Care. Oh they chatter on and on and on as to how concerned they are about road deaths but that is all it is, Chatter. They big problem, which causes people to ignore Posted Speed Limits is when there are, supposedly, Eoad Works in Progress. Kilometres after kilometres on our freeways which normally have a 100kph Posted Speed Limit, have 40 or 60 limits imposed but No-One is actually Working and that includes over Weekebds and Public Holidays. One of our freeways has had a new surface put down, The Speed Limity was reduced to 40 or 60 and it has remained at those limits for Six and More MONTHs - this despite the work having been completed over two months ago. Of course peopl get frustrated and angry and break the rules when those supposedly in charge impose totally unnecessary limits

If you have a partner why don't one of you stay home and look after your own children? I, and I think many others as well, get sick to death of hearing parents complaining about the cost of Childcare, that it should be Free - which simply means that other Taxpayers - some of whom have chosen not to breed - are expected - or rather it is considered their Duty - to pay for the rearing of other people's children. If you want children then make up your minds to bring them up yourselves and put up with the inconveniences BUT do Not expect others to do it for you. Personally, I don't know why anyone sponsors sports especially if they are going to be bad-mouthed over it. I never notice who is sponsoring anyone anyway and I doubt that I am the only person.

Hi Missy, usually the blues pay the best and then purples . What you can earn all depends on if u work ,own a car ,have a mortgage etc as you have probably noticed alot get screened out from by age or other reasons . Payment into your bank is totally safe ,I have used and I'm a real nervous nut about technology! In fact the transfer is within 30 mins amazing! Gift cards in the mail 4 to 6weeks . It might be easier if you put the insurance you would pay in a separate account and watch it grow every year.

Riding for Disabled - its the best thing - esp those riders who are unable to go bushwalking...they just love the trail riding days. We also play games on horse back, giving them eye and hand coordination, strengthening their core muscles, and generally giving them something exciting to look forward to each week.

I must say I see this happen so often why turn up at your funeral when you haven't seen them in years. I don't understand it - I would rather see them for five minutes while I can enjoy their visit than they wait until my funeral and I don't even know that they are there.

Goodness me. I don't have enough time to go to those lengths. I recycle as much as I can but some of the symbols are quite difficult to see. I wonder why there are so many. I feed the food the cats leave to the neighbourhood fox and birds and I compost all tea bags, egg shells and veggies peelings and garden waste so I feel I pretty well do my bit.

People seem to want the top range of everything today. A lot are not prepared to wait until they can afford non-essential items so they buy them on credit, many can't pay it off by the due date and get themselves even further in debt.

Get rid of Facebook and other social media platforms to stop online bullying and scamming etc. Life before these platforms was so much easier, and people cared a lot more

To buy another house you are entering into the very same problem that the rest of Australia is facing- its expensive All those costs unfortunately either come with the cost of real estate purchase , and the income generated by the increase in value upon sale. Or just with moving home, it’s too much, I agree. At least you are not facing homelessness like many of us who don’t own a home.

I would have liked to gain some financial knowledge. How to budget, as so many young people leave school without much idea of how to budget and get themselves into debt. I also think some knowledge of stocks, shares and the stock exchange would be good.

At 50 you start to become invisible to employers...by 65 you are almost totally invisible to anyone in marketing...or anywhere else for that matter....at that point no-one cares about what you are doing at all and you can basically do whatever you want ....it is the younger members of this new bright and shiny society that is being created for us that need to be very wary and very cautious...they REALLY ARE watching, measuring and weighing you up on a regular basis....and nothing to your benefit is going to come out of it....

The legal ramifications and how to legalize this hasn't caught up. I know there have been wonderful stories of a sister carrying a child for her sister etc, but when you get money coming into this with greedy unscrupulous people it is a big problem. Nobody thinks about the child.

Energy Australia is now owned by China. They bought the company and the name. I think this is very misleading. I changed to an Australian electricity supplier as soon as I was made aware of this.

Love and companionship is vital to stop us becoming rigid in our self-centredness. I married young and it was a mistake. I ended up supporting my three children on my own. Then I met someone who willingly took on my kids as well as a wife. He died suddenly 17 years later. A few weeks later my cousin died and her husband and I (we had known each other for 22 years) married a year after that. We are soon to celebrate our 18th Wedding Anniversary and we are the best of friends as well as a married couple. We feel blessed to have each other.

I only worked one job - before I retired. I was the only minority at the job for thirty years (federal civil service position - USA). I did not socialize with my co-workers on the job, on weekends, holidays, or when I took annual (vacation) leave from the job! If I had a co-worker from hell - I did not care - since I could always transfer to another jobsite (without loss of seniority or having to accept a lower paying position)! More important, I never brought the job home with me (mentally) - left job-related personalities at the job - at the end of my shift (and I never dreaded (mentally) going to work in the morning)!
