With daylight savings approaching one begs to ask the question - are you a early bird or a night owl? When I was younger-in my teens I proffered being a night owl. But as I got older-with adult responsibilities-I like to go to bed at a reasonable time so I can get up in the morning to get ready for work.

Happy to just go along as normal with no daylight savings. Still get plenty sunshine, in fact I would gain none with changing. The only thing changing is a clock.

I just saw a news story that a woman in the US was in a cafe, the service wasn't good, so she ate what she ordered and then paid for it, and then left, but she never left or gave a Tip. The worker then called the Police because the No Tip was given. Not sure if any action was taken by the Police. When we were in Miami (about 6 weeks back) on the waterfront we got crappie food and just paid the bill, but never left a tip, the dude wasn't happy. Here...

I never tip (USA) - it is not my responsibility (as a customer) to supplement the employer's pay rate (what the employer is paying his/her employees). If the employer cannot pay his/her employees a livable wage - then the employer should not be operating a business!

I would definitely eat that but without the chili powder or green chilies. Thank you for sharing your recipe.

There are so many things that should have you checking your Receipts after going shopping Deli counter items Check the weight and price. Specials getting charged normal price. Being charged for items you haven t brought or your charged for more than the number of items you have brought . You also have stores that have specials advertised but not in their stores. So if you have seen it advertised make sure you get it for that price . Now I admit I have been to blame for a...

I always get compliments when I slow cook this dish. The Beef cheeks are so tender they practically melt in your mouth with the delicious rich red wine flavored sauce. This recipe is definitely a winner! This is one of those recipes people think is challenging to cook, but it is practically a set and forget dish! Actually just what it says. Parts like tis are really the red meat. I actually really enjoy this, but it does require a taste. Beef heart, rocky mountain oysters And gizzard and hearts. Let's not forget trype. Learned most of these delicacies from an old sheephearder. I spent a summer with as a kid

1 can Chickpeas 1/2 cup Tahini 1/4 cup Lemon juice 2 Garlic cloves Salt Cayenne pepper or any other spice you'd prefer. 1/3 cup water This is really easy to make Blend all the ingredients together, and you get a nice hummus for a dip etc. I also sprinkle fresh parsley onto from my own garden :) The amount in the photo, I used double the ingredients. Enjoy
Michelle S 553303
Thanks Ange. I always make sure that I have all these ingredients at home and available at all times. I don't know if many people realise how very nutritious this is as well as being tasty too. I wish that I had a dollar for every bowl of hummus eaten globally just for today because I'd be instantly rich! Thanks for sharing.

Most of us have various shoes/footware to match every event, season, taste and those moments. Yet, recently my podiatrist admitted that their office makes so much money from people who wear crocs and shoes that were never suited to the shape of their own feet nor their own walking patterns/gait. Over time our backs, hips, knees, ankles or toes scream at us for help. How many of us are truly comfortable with all of our footwear? Or do we just smile like whatever and trek...

Would you make vaccines mandatory or perhaps use strict lockdowns? Would you close off borders or would you allow new variants to enter the community to build up total immunity? How would you have handled the pandemic or what would you have done differently?
Pat C 618241
Watched a news item on Denmark. They have lifted all mandates on masks, distance and all that. The chief epidemiologist says they are well vaccinated so let it rip. Sure they have heaps of cases but very few deaths. Are we bold enough here to do likewise. No! Too many anti vaccers I think.

As the heading says, Should Optus be allowed to continue operating after the major hack and release of their customer's private details? Keep in mind that if the government was to force them to cease operations then Optus would just start trading under a different business name then their new customers would not be aware of the risk hey would be taking. Also keep in mind that for many years Optus has also been trading under the name of DODO

My children do jobs at home to earn pocket money, but are slowly approaching that all important she where they can work outside the home in part-time jobs. Currently, they have a few after school activities and homework etc each week. My question is, do you have them give up the interests they have been cultivating for years, so they get the job early, or do you make them wait for the job? We are leaning towards them keeping the interests and keeping up the good grades at...
Carmel C 103964
Depends totally on the child. They are all different. There are many different ways to help your children learn things and become more independent.
- For some children that involves not being paid to do chores but by being asked to do 'free' chores as a way of being taught that not all worthwhile activities in life are financially rewarded. That some rewards and benefits in life come purely from being involved, doing their share, helping others, doing their part in the running of the household and helping in the care of themselves.
Out in the adult world not all activities are rewarded by money. It is an important lesson to learn.
-Hence some parents teach their children to think of 'the bigger pictures' by not paying them to work around the house, or paying them only for 'extra' work done outside of the normal chore expectations. Some parents choose to reward the children for good family participation with special outings or the occasional junkfood treat rather than cash.
Other parents expect the children to divide their pocket money into three. Savings, spending and charity donations. Each family is different and has different lessons they wish to teach their children to help them be stronger, independent adults.
- Paying jobs outside of the household can also teach many good life lessons as well as giving them a better appreciation of how finances work and the value of money. Once again it comes down to each child being different, their ages, each job being different and how well each parent is involved in guiding them on how to save and how to socialise publicly. Is it 'necessary' for them to have a job whilst still in school? Only the parents can really decide if that is best for their child. There are so many things that need to be considered. Some children will flourish
whilst others may not. Some jobs are fun. Some jobs are just tiring and non-beneficial in anyway.
- Likewise, extra-curricular activities like sports can teach many good life lessons and help to keep them fit and happier. Sometimes those activities may lead them into a small paid job, like helping to coach.
* Overall each parent needs to look at each of their children differently and as separate individuals with different personalities and needs. What is right for one is not right for all. One may flourish in a small part time job, whilst their sibling may do better being left to concentrate on the karate they love so much or by simply being left to study and help around the house whenever they can. These are the tough decisions that parents have to make and although seeking advice from others is awesome....in the end only you can truly know what is right for your offspring. Even when you make that choice, it may need to be tweaked as time goes on. If something doesn't work well, then move on and try something else. That will help them learn resilience and that change is ok and sometimes it is for the best.

REDLINING (by white bankers) is used as an excuse to deny black people access to loans, keeping them in neighborhoods with lower property values and little investment opportunities. Meanwhile, white neighborhoods, were seen as more desirable, worthy of development, and easier access to loans. Welcome to the real USA!
Jenny L 591463
Oh Walter W that happens every where not just in America and yes it is very wrong and very unethical, but the bank needs guarantees and unless some one is going to guarentee that the black man won't forfeit on a loan they simply won't give it to any of them. Very sad and very unjust. It happens all the time and the black man works just as hard as a white man (maybe some times even harder.) But what can one do, go guarantor on a loan for some one they don't know? Would you do that?

Elaine D 99552
I use it most of the time instead of a computer. I download and read books, do banking, play games, do surveys, take and edit photos, send texts and emails, research products, order products, watch videos, listen to music, read the news, find recipes and craft patterns, learn French and Chinese, book tickets and accommodation and ask questions about anything I want to know. That takes up most of my day! I very rarely use it to ring people.

I'm starting to feel like a second class citizen, what with Aboriginal designs on just about everything and Aboriginal names everywhere. People are not allowed to call Aboriginals black but they are allowed to call us white. The even have their own flag, I thought we were all Australians. I won't mention all the freebees they get at the expense of the taxpayer.

Progress continues to be made on developing toilets that undertake fecal and urine analysis when you use it. This can detect disease and warning signs of poor health, and even send the results to your doctor over the internet. Would you use this toilet or is it too invasive? How would you feel if your toilet told you you've overinduldged in greasy foods, etc.? How would this work if a visitor used it? Is Artificial Intelligence development getting out of control?

In my experience doctors have not been too good at detecting health issues, including some major ones. Given that, a toilet that provides health data could be an advantage.

Do you believe that the internet is a possible risk for starting WW3? We hear of occasionally, or read of situations of spying that goes on by some countries, esp by Nations of ... influence, Such as China, Russia, North Korea. There is only so much our Government Internet security teams.. can do to keep us safe. Some of these corrupt nations have a lot to gain by spying, and Westernized ..Nations .... like our own are worried! Spying on on other nations...

If I see Santa, I will hug him straight away, and thank him for his generosity to all people especially to kids. I would tour him around my house, and I would give him some cookies. I will touch his face and his long white beard and ask him to have a selfie with me and my family. I will ask him this question that's stuck in my mind when I was a kid and up till now What it feels like, to be Santa Claus?"
Rifat H
It's said that The Legend of Santa Claus is : based on the historic figure of Saint Nicholas, a real-life Greek bishop who lived during the 4th century and was known for secretly leaving gifts at the homes of children. The name Santa Claus is from the Dutch 'SinterKlaas' which means 'Saint Nicholas'.
I think to 'see' Santa Claus would be like seeing the spirit of : a wonderful act of kindness such as giving presents to Children (of all ages young or old) which brings much Joy and Happiness! Something very bright, on a very special occassion!

It hasn't crept into our vocabulary. If you use it in the wrong context you need to improve your English. What I do hate is when people say tooken instead of taken! We will eventually degenerate into neanderthals again with the horrid grammar, speech and antisocial behaviour around nowadays. Grunt grunt!

If you truly believe in God, you will realise why people get married. Marriage is a type of Christ and his bride, and when Christ returns he will take those who believe in him to be his bride, and they will live with him in bliss and everlasting joy for eternity. You see, the Bible teaches that the kingdom of God will be on earth. In the meantime by being married we are glorifying God who wants us to be faithful to our partner in this life, just as we must be faithful to God. Marriage is a big commitment but it is very worthwhile from a scriptural point of view.

The World Medical Association has said that boxing should be a banned sport because it causes fatalities and brain injuries. But life causes fatalities and brain injuries. If so, what was the item? And was assembling it as easy as IKEA makes out? I am curious if they live up to their legend.
Margaret B 429563
Have only ever purchased 1 item (as far as I can remember) - got someone else to put it together for me as it was so complicated and takes so long to put it together. The process of finally finding it in the store, selection of the wanted item, collection from the assembly store down the bottom and then getting it paid for, let alone getting it home again is a mission in itself - who has the expertise or energy left to put the item together. Only impetus is saving the $70+ dollars they want for getting someone from their store to assemble it for you. Much prefer to go somewhere else & pay a bit more but get the item in one piece at home. I'm too old to try doing the gymnastics required to assemble the IKEA items.

My mum has always done that so I guess I learned from her. A few years back it was a big thing. I remember people regrowing celery. It drives me nuts when you see a survey on Rewardia's survey page and it says 10 minutes. You click on it and now the survey says it will take 20 minutes. Happens all the time that the surveys are usually longer than advertised. When that happens I just close the survey, if they can't be honest about the time then they don't get my answers.
Jack M 393074
Most surveys say that in 'timed tests, it has been found that this survey takes 8 to 10 minutes to complete'. This does not take into account the fact that many surveys have essay questions, pay attention questions, I am not a robot questions and that they usually ask the same BS questions over and over again thus making that 8 to 10 minutes more like an hour or two. Beware! Most 25 point surveys usually take an hour or two or three even! Rule of thumb- always assume that surveys can be very short or very long regardless of what they tell you! If you don't have the time needed and you are not sure if you can save the survey for later, do not start surveys you are not sure of their length. What I hate is when they tell you that you must accumulate X number of points before you can cashout! BTW Rewardia requires 50K points for $50 cash or gift cards/codes.

Mix chicken pieces with flour, chili powder, turmeric, salt, and ginger-garlic paste, then fry until golden brown. In another bowl, combine puffed rice, chopped onion, tomato, peanuts, salt, lemon juice, and cilantro for a crunchy side. Serve with a quick dip made of mayonnaise and ketchup, and enjoy with your favorite drink while watching a movie. This is our Friday evening.

This is a very simple dessert to make. It is of Dutch Indonesian origin coming from Manado in the north of Sulawesi. I am currently in that area building houses hence the post. At first glance, it appears like a lot of ingredients, but most can be found in many western pantries. 1/4 cup (30 gr) all-purpose flour 7 tbsp (50 gr) cornstarch 1/2 cup (100 gr) granulated sugar 1/2 tsp salt 1 cup (240 ml) coconut water 1 1/2 cups (360 ml) milk 2 tbsp ...

The other is the t.v shows I might have watched the night before. I won't take them because about half the questions are about stupid ads...

Like myself there are many people at home looking after a family member. I originally had my daughter at the age of 4, get very sick and had a crash course in nursing in 3 months and had to look after her 24/7. People do not understand what you are going through and sometimes we need to know there are other people out there, like ourselves, that do understand. I am now looking after my husband 24/7 because of all his health issurs

Having just found out that my latest op. did not work, I worry for my partner. He's already been doing much of the domestic chores on my behalf, whilst also carting me about some distance to various health appointments. We are both in our mid eighties and don't know how long we can keep being active. Who will need extra care first? As seniors we are not in a position to pay for much home care and I see the news says that is to be increased in price to seniors using it. Life in the old lane isn't much fun is it?

I know you don't 'earn' a lot from playing the games but what games do you find, give the most points? I also find there is no consistency with the points awarded, one day you can get 10 point, then get the same score the next day (same game) and only get 4.
Chin C
Cookie hangman is good as each answer is worth anywhere between 5 to 10 points. You can usually solve the answer quite quickly so it\u2019s a higher paying rate in a sense. Drop N merge also doesn\u2019t take long and I usually get 4 points a game. I avoid games that take a long time. I guess everyone is different so what works for me might not work for you.

In driving at night I've been blinded by headlights on 4-wheel drives. I flash my lights to let the other driver know they are on high beam. Then the other driver flicks up to high beam. So I've been blinded by their low beams. Should the 4WD vehicles have their lights lowered so they are not so blinding as they are a higher vehicle than the ordinary car?
MoB
Probably, drivers now have no idea about lights. A car was following me on a dark night with no lights at all, when we pulled up at the lights I let him know that he didn't have his lights on, he said I can see so why should I put my lights on. I tried to explain that the lights were not for him to see with but for other people to see him. I got the finger, very nice. Knowing about lights on your car should be imperative if you are driving, it might help to lessen the number of accidents we have.

What do you think of the forthcoming increase in pension payments ? Can you survive on a pension? The pending increase in pension payments is just over $ 38 a fortnight, BUT my rent alone has increased by $ 40 a fortnight recently. Add to that rent increase, the much higher costs of electricity, gas, water, groceries, and other things, how are pensioners supposed to survive?

Also when I lived at my parents as a teen I used to chuck avocado seeds in the backyard garden. They have a few fruiting avocado trees now. Apple cores/seeds chucked out a little before winter solstice (in temperate climates) should get enough cold hours to start sprouting by spring. You can also wash apple seeds then chuck em in a container with damp paper towel in the fridge (keep checking that it's damp) and this will give them enough cold hours to start sprouting (100% success I've found with this as all seeds sprouted). So yeah mum n dad have a few apple trees and crabapple trees.

EILEEN W 310556
I have twice seen one and I am basically a skeptic about flying saucers and Aliens. However on both occasions neither the Coastguard, Airforce, Police or anyone else can explain the lights I saw, which were brilliant blue when hovering, then flashed green as the zig-zagged back and forth for about 10 minutes over the ancient extinct volcano on our property, before flashing back to brilliant blue and disappearing over the horizon at an incredible speed.. They lit up the sky which woke my daughter on a neighbouring property on the second occasion. On the first occasion I was with about 6 other adults and we all reported our sighting. Several other people reported them on both occasions but we never received any logical explanations. Definitely unidentified flying objects

I learnt to use industrial sewing machines at the age of 14 but sadly now I am retired can't afford to buy one so I can continue making and repairing clothing. I also have a really good eye for colours and when we built our last home I knew exactly what I wanted, they told us to allow 3 hours to choose everything, had it all sorted in less than an hour, colour of bricks, roof windows, door plus everything inside. I also had to teach myself how to cook and after 50 plus years married husband still asks where did you get that recipe from.

What is up with Hollywood today? Most of the "NEW" movies today are only rehashed old movies. Where is their imagination gone? The older ones were good in their day, so why rehash them and in the process ruining a good movie. Wake up scriptwriters and use some imagination and this doesn t mean special effects with imaginary characters. What do other people think?
Linda C
Years ago a movie was released into the cinemas and played for a few weeks or even months sometimes. Nowadays unfortunately, due to TV, cable TV, internet, netflix etc. they are barely even hitting the cinemas for a week and then hit the smaller screens. This means more and more movies have to be made and sadly many are rubbish. I agree, some are just noise and or trash and often the hype is just PR to get people to pay to watch them.
I rarely watch TV and never go to the movies these days. I do not have pay TV either.
Give me a good book any day.

this whole discussion is based on personal opinion - i am a size 8 and find it offensive when people say i starve myself - or thin shame me (yes it happens often) - i am naturally this size i eat a lot, i exercise too and stay same size and think as long as you are happy in yourself it shouldn't matter what size you are - whatever words used can be offensive if we let them - i choose to smile and let it go

Sometimes we have so much to do and have only little time for it. Cleaning, washing, work, cooking, kids, shopping, walking the dog etc. Do you have any hints or advices for the people who struggle to find time to make everything done?

When we were scammed out of our life savings of $53,500 whilst building a new house we ended up with a mortgage and having to do all the landscaping ourselves so it is an ongoing thing, we just try and set out what needs doing the most and tackle it day by day.

If I were to list all the weird jobs I've had in my lifetime, I'd be here until 2022. I've done anything and everything to earn cash. What weird employment have you undertaken to make money?
