We are in the process of looking for a new home. Finally, we settled on a suitable property in our chosen location. We decided to offer the full price asked for. We thought we were getting a good deal. We tuned up to the Estate Agent's office to pay our deposit and were extremely upset when he told us that the price listed was a starting point for negotiations, not a fixed price, and that the sellers now wanted 30K more. Would we agree?
No, I felt cheated, I thought this was extortion and illegal. Apparently not. Surely this is false advertising.
We are still looking. Too many bad vibes with this one.
